Mission Statement

By focusing on the whole child, Abiding Branches Cooperative Preschool provides a safe and nurturing Christian education to children ages three to five years of age.

Philosophy

Children develop best when provided with an inviting, caring, stimulating, safe, and flexible environment. We provide each child with a positive feeling about him or herself and about school. Children given new and interesting activities are eager to learn, which is why we offer a “center” approach to learning. Along with learning how to act in a large group, children are active participants in small group and individual centers. ABC Preschool uses developmentally appropriate practices to enrich the child's social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and physical growth. Daily learning experiences in creative art, music, science, dramatic play, small and large muscle skills, and basic kindergarten readiness are provided. Parents may review the school's program plan at any time.

In February 2013, ABC Preschool earned accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the nation’s leading organization for early childhood professionals. NAEYC accreditation assures families that children in our program receive high-quality care and early learning experiences. We offer a wide variety of engaging activities designed to stimulate young minds, including art, science, math, sensory play, construction, fine motor development, language, dramatic play, outdoor exploration, and field trips. Our programs are thoughtfully planned to balance fun and learning, helping children enjoy every moment of their time at preschool. Our curriculum is guided by the Minnesota Early Childhood Indicators of Progress (ECIPs).

Our teachers are enthusiastic and highly trained in early childhood development. Each program is carefully designed to encourage curiosity, creativity, and social interaction. Our small class sizes and low student to teacher ration allow children to build strong, meaningful relationships with their teachers. As a cooperative preschool, we also value parent involvement, offering opportunities throughout the year for parents to participate as classroom helpers.
